New Year : Be Kind To You

Everyone always says, New Year: New You. But, why do you need a new you?


Last year had its challenges, and 2021 will continue to have its challenges as we continue through the navigations of lockdowns, restrictions, as well as social and political struggles going on in our lives. You have gone through extreme trials and tribulations, so why do you need a new you?


You have grown in ways that no one could have anticipated this year. You have learned about your limitations and boundaries with others, you have learned what is a priority or are priorities to you, you have found hobbies that better represent what is important to you and your identity, and you’ve gone through more than anyone will be able to relate to. You’ve done your growth all year, so why do you need to do more.

Take this year as a year of healing, a time to take moments when you can to relax and de-stress. To not feel guilty to ask for time for yourself and to not feel guilty to get in contact with your support team, whether it is friends and family or a professional. We all have some personal healing to do, so let us take the time we need to do that and not focus on a new us when we are already not the same person that had started 2020.


Take 2021 as the grace year that it should be. It will not be without its challenges, but, let us try to reduce some of those challenges by being kind to ourselves and to others that earn our kindness.
